- [S579] 1930 US Census-Martin County, Magisterial District No. 7; 80-8; Sheet No. 2A; household 19, family 19; household of Sonney & Thursey Tiller; viewed and downloaded; 1 September 2016 (Reliability: 3).
Sonney, 48, and Thursey, 44, were married. Ages at first marriage: 21 and 17 respectively. They had seven children and two grandchildren at home: Columbus, 26; Ida, 24; Virgie, divorced, 21; Gladys, 16; Fannie, 12; Hiram, 9, Alex, 3; Kennis, grandson, 3; Rebecca, granddaughter, 2. Only Columbus and Gladys could read and write. Due to unclear writing/overwriting, it appears perhaps Gladys and Hiram may have attended school. All household members and their parents were born in Kentucky with one exception: Sonny's father was born in West Virginia. Sonny was a farmer on his own truck farm. Columbus assisted on the farm. No household members were veterans.
